The customer requested the replacement of two ivory slide dimmer switches and the reinstallation of a previously removed light fixture. I replaced the old dimmer switches with new ivory slide dimmer switches, ensuring they functioned correctly. I then reinstalled the light fixture, securing it properly and restoring its functionality. The work was completed as requested, with both the dimmer switches and light fixture operating correctly.

Upon receiving the customer's request, I began by replacing the two ivory slide dimmer switches. This involved carefully removing the existing switches and installing the new ones, ensuring they were securely connected and functioning properly. Next, I addressed the installation of the light fixture that had been removed during a previous visit. This required precise alignment and secure mounting to guarantee the fixture's stability and proper operation. Upon receiving a report of non-functional outlets and a closet light in a bedroom, while the ceiling fan and its light remained operational, I conducted a thorough electrical troubleshooting process. Using a circuit tracer, I inspected the wiring behind multiple outlets. The investigation revealed a failed GFCI receptacle in a separate room, which was interrupting power to the bedroom circuit. I replaced the faulty GFCI receptacle, restoring power to the affected area. Post-repair, I verified that all bedroom outlets, switches, and closet lighting were functioning correctly, ensuring the customer's satisfaction.

We replaced the outdated 36-year-old electrical panel with a new one, ensuring it was appropriately sized for current needs. The old panel was removed, and the new one was installed with properly sized circuit breakers. Existing branch circuits were reconnected, and the wiring was organized and labeled for clarity. A 50-amp generator interlock system was installed, including a listed interlock kit, a 50-amp generator breaker, and a 50-amp exterior generator inlet with necessary wiring. The interlock was configured to prevent simultaneous operation of the utility main and generator breakers. Whole-home surge protection was added, and grounding and bonding were verified and corrected as needed. The installation was tested, and we reviewed safe generator connection practices, load management, and interlock operation with the homeowner, ensuring compliance with all applicable electrical codes and local inspection requirements.

We installed surge protection at the A/C disconnect following NEC 440.6 and Article 242, and replaced existing outlets with tamper-resistant receptacles as per NEC 406.12 and 406.4D5 for enhanced safety and compliance. We also installed a new color-selectable 6-inch recessed light, connecting it to existing wiring and adding up to 10ft of wiring as needed. Additionally, we installed a customer-supplied light fixture in the master bedroom and a ceiling fan on the patio, both connected to existing 120-volt switched circuits.

Customer reported a loss of power to multiple kitchen outlets, including the GFCI receptacle protecting the circuit. We will perform a Level 1 electrical diagnostic to troubleshoot the circuit and identify the cause of the power loss. Once diagnosed, we will replace the existing GFCI receptacle with a new tamper-resistant GFCI device using the existing wiring to restore power and proper protection to the affected outlets. Upon completion, we will test the circuit and verify proper operation.

Dedicated 50-Amp EV Charging Circuit Installation Installed a new dedicated 50-amp, 240-volt electrical circuit to accommodate electric vehicle charging. Work included installation of appropriately sized wiring, required circuit protection, and a new EV-rated receptacle outlet designed for continuous charging applications. All electrical connections and terminations were completed in accordance with applicable electrical codes and safety standards. Upon completion, the circuit and receptacle were tested to verify proper voltage, polarity, and operation. Panel Labeling & Additional Finding: While labeling the panel, I noticed a switch arcing and tripping its breaker. This behavior was not observed with the old panel/breaker, indicating the previous breaker was defective, likely due to a previous lightning strike. With the new panel and breakers, the circuit now trips properly as designed. No other issues were found. In Summary: The EV charger was diagnosed with overheating on the control board. I completed a series of electrical tasks, starting with the replacement of a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) receptacle in the kitchen to ensure safety and compliance with electrical codes. Next, I installed a wireless smart switch at the kitchen entry, enabling convenient control of the overhead recessed lighting. Additionally, I relocated a Ring floodlight from the driveway to the porch area and installed a driveway sconce for enhanced security and lighting. On October 19, 2026, I inspected a light fixture damaged by a lightning strike. The Siemens 30-space panel showed heat damage. I presented options for panel replacement, new breakers, a dedicated GFCI outlet, a keyless light fixture, and whole-home surge protection. The customer chose the Good Option, which included a dedicated GFCI outlet and a keyless light fixture replacement. I installed the GFCI outlet and wired it to the fixture, and covered the old panel hole with a two-gang blank plate.
